A Study on Difference of Preparation for Postretirement Life by Generation ?Focusing on a Comparative Analysis before and after the Baby Boomer Generation-

Abstract

|
This study is conducted to analyze the current status of difference and gaps of the financial condition by generation, based on Statistics Korea`s data of `Survey of Household Finances and Living Conditions` in 2012 and `Social Survey` in 2011. As a result of an analysis on household financial status, it is found that the economic capacity of the baby boomer generation(born between 1955 and 1963) is superior than the pre(born between 1932 and 1954) and post-baby boomer generations. As a result of measuring the gaps of the financial status by generation, gaps of the financial status of the baby boomer generation is not relatively huge, whereas the elderly which is the pre-baby boomer generation shows big differences on the preparation level for postretirement life. This result implies that the gaps of preparation level for postretirement life of the elderly are more serious and vulnerable than other generations, which require political plans and concerns.
